News from Pursuit-of-Happiness.org

It’s official

The IRS has awarded us 501(c) 3 status (phew, that took sixty pages of paperwork). We were registered as a corporation two years ago, but now we are recognized by the US government as a tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation. Donations to Pursuit-of-Happiness.org (Teaching Happiness Inc) are now tax-deductible for the donors and we can apply for grants to many foundations. Amazingly we have come this far through pure volunteer power, thanks to the generosity of so many people who emailed us out of the blue or asked us if we needed a hand. Up till now I guess you could have called us an NIO, a “No Income Organization.” One day I should blog about this.

CSS wizard comes to the rescue

John Wright of Sozosdesign, an expert in web design and CSS (the cutting edge of webdesign) has joined our team of volunteers. As you can see, our website is now transformed, and will continue to transform as we turn into a multimedia trove of information on the science and philosophy of happiness.  Ideas on how we can improve our content and appearance are most welcome. Seriously.

Online courses on the “Science and Philosophy of Happiness”

We are convening a free experimental webinar to introduce the “Science and Philosophy of Happiness,” and to hear your opinions, on July 22 from 4-6pm New York time. If you are interested please email us at info [at] pursuit-of-happiness.org.
On Saturday July 24 and the following two Saturdays we are team-teaching a one-credit graduate course on the same topic. For more info on the one credit course go to the “participate” section on this website.
